Comparison between light steel house and brick concrete house

The technology and product configuration of light steel structure are very mature and highly industrialized. It is the crystallization of the development of construction technology and building materials industry in North America in recent 100 years. The galvanized steel plate used in the building structure has excellent corrosion resistance and durability. Its service life under normal use is 275 years.

Brick concrete structure is widely used in China in recent years because of its easy availability of materials, low cost, convenient construction, firmness and durability. In fact, villas can be built with brick wood structure, wood structure, steel structure, light steel structure, pure masonry structure or mixed structure of other light thermal insulation materials and other materials, but villas built with other structures mentioned above are rare in China at present.

Light steel building structure

1. Basic system

The self weight of light steel structure houses is light, which is only about one fifth of that of brick concrete structure houses and about one eighth of that of reinforced concrete structure houses. Therefore, the foundation construction cost can be greatly reduced. The foundation of light steel structure houses generally adopts strip foundation.

① Light steel structure has light weight, which can greatly reduce the cost of foundation engineering;

② The moisture-proof design of the foundation can effectively prevent the invasion of moisture and harmful gas;

③ Reasonable anchoring method shall be adopted to ensure the reliable connection between the foundation and the main body.

2. Wall system

The external wall system is generally between 120-200mm. Due to the light and thin wall, the actual use area of light steel structure houses is increased by about 10% – 15% compared with traditional houses, and the indoor use area is increased by more than 90% compared with traditional houses. The indoor space can be flexibly separated. The pipeline can be arranged in the reserved holes of wall, floor and roof components, with good concealment and more beautiful appearance.

① The wall is filled with glass fiber cotton, which has good thermal insulation, heat insulation and sound insulation performance;

② The breathing paper is waterproof and breathable, which can effectively adjust the indoor air humidity, make the living more comfortable, and effectively prevent mold from growing inside the wall;

③ The pipeline is buried in the wall and does not occupy indoor space.

3. Floor system

The floor is composed of high-strength hot-dip galvanized C-type and U-type light steel components. The floor beams are arranged according to the standard modulus with equal spacing and multi ribs. The floor beams are covered with structural plates that have been strictly moisture-proof and anti-corrosion, forming a solid and anti-seismic floor system.

① Combined structure of structural plate and floor steel beam, firm and stable;

② Various water and electricity pipelines are concealed in the floor structure without occupying the building floor height;

③ The interlayer is filled with glass fiber cotton, which has remarkable effects of thermal insulation, sound absorption and sound insulation.
